Austria/Inexpensive things to do in Salzburg and Vienna
Expert: Salzburg City Tourist Information - 4/17/2000
QuestionI will be in Salzburg and Vienna from July 8th through the 14th. Do you have any suggestions for inexpensive entertainment, especially concerts and sightseeing tours? I am also wondering the best way to exchange American dollars into schillings. Would it be best to bring traveller`s checks? Thank you for any information you can provide!!
AnswerDear Amy,
Thank you for your question and your interest in Salzburg.
I would like to recommend a visit to the Salzburg Tourist Office
website, where you can find information about sights, accomodation
and events, you'll find it at:

As for money exchange: In general it is very easy to exchange money here. As Austria is part of the eurozone you will also have no trouble with
changing rates or anything. Credit cards are generally accepted everywhere, travelers cheques are also common but not as much as credit cards. Bank machines you can also find everywhere. Should you arrive on a weekend, I would recommend to have some cash money with you as banks are closed, during the week you won't have any problem.
Should you use AMEX: they have an office here which is also quite helpful.
Same for Western Union.
Hope this helps and you will like the Salzburg website.
Greetings from Salzburg, have a nice time here!
