About Edgar Mendez Chacon Expertise I lived in Vienna for 3 months and know many good places to visit, places to rent apartments for a short period of time and how to easily get around the different districts in the city.
Question Two of us will be in Vienna in early October 2005 for 3 days. 1. Any suggestions for friendly lodging around 80 - 100 euro's? some names that have surfaced are Altwienerhof, and alstadt. We do not have to stay in the inner circle. 2. is it better to have a "half board" arrangement? 3. Any places to avoid? Thank you in advance. (if you have questions about Chicago IL, I would be happy to recipricate!) have a wonderful day.
Answer Hello Bob!
My favorite affordable hotel in a great location is the Hotel Post which is right in the Ring (inner circle), about a 5 minute walk from Stefansdom (St. Stephen's Cathedral). If you don't mind walking down the hall for the shower, you can get a double room between 64-70 Euro or if you want the shower in your room it's 95-115 Euro depending on when you go. They have a great breakfast buffet too! You can check out their website at www.hotel-post-wien.at/index.html.en
There are many cheaper hotels in the outer districts but I'd opt to stay within the Ring on my first visit. If you'd like to search for other hotels, you can check on the Vienna Toursit website at www.wien.info and search all the hotels there.
I wouldn't get the half board arrangement and just stop by the supermarket, butcher and bakery and get stuff for picnic lunches and then search out some nice places to eat for dinner. The picnic lunches are one of my favorite things to do when in Europe since you get to try different things then you get at home!
Hope this helps you out some and if you have some more questions let me know!
