Question My daughter is 12 and was diagnosed with Asperger's 2yrs ago and before that ADHD and Persuasive disorder. She has always struggled in school but not because of her lack of knowledge but because of her emotional problems. Last year she was receiving counseling once a week in school with a school counselor and other things were in place to help her out when she felt like she was loosing control of her emotions. She is now in the 8th week of this new school year and she has been in trouble with 2 teachers and has received ISS and was about to get put into a alternative learning school for kids who have disciplinary problems. My husband and I didn't want her to go there and withdrew her from school. When I meet with the asst. principal I told her that my daughter wasn't receiving the help that she was suppose to get according to the ARD that was done last year. I hadn't even had an ARD meeting this year to discuss how things were going for my daughter. I wanted to know if you have any suggestions about what we can do as regards to getting our daughter back in school and getting her the help she needs. Thanks in advance for your help.
Answer Sorry for the delay! A great site for answers regarding school issues:

If you would like for me to give you detailed feedback based on your daughter's specific needs, with tailored accommodation and sensory interventions to reduce behaviors (or increase depending on the need): you can contact me via email through our website at:

My books "Taming Tommy's Tantrums" and "Calming the Stormy Days with Annie" can be a real help for teachers to understand why we do what we do! You can't discipline away a disability, but you can work with us to support our needs and be able to show what we can do rather than what we can't!
Please let me know if there is anything else that I can provide.
