Autism/mild autism
Expert: James Michael Roan - 11/16/2008
QuestionQUESTION: for the last 5 an a half years we have been fighting the school and ped. Dr. about if our son had autism we finely went to child study in oklahoma city they told us that he was mild autic and mr we dont quiet under stand what to do for david that we are doing
ANSWER: Hi Terry;
Be careful about that MR label. It may inaccurate. Mild autism is defined by an IQ above 70, the cut-off for MR. In fact, a child needs a score of 70 or below in cognitive, adaptive behaviors, and academic functioning to qualify for that label.
I'm a little unclear about the last part of your question.
Kind regards,
James
