Autism/food dislikes

Question
Hello,
My boyfriend possibly has asd spectrum behavior, especially when it comes to foods. He will only eat VERY certain things, and I am concerned about his health. His diet is: cheese/ and or pepperoni pizza, plain peanut butter sandwiches, and sweets. Any ideas how he might approach adopting some more healthy items into his diet?
Thanks!

Answer
Hi Ingrid;

Behavior management principles are too involved for me to adequately discuss them via this format. Whether he has ASD or it is an obsessive-compulsive behavior, I suggest you try to gently introduce small bites of foods that are more healthy than what he's eating but of the same nature such as pizza light on cheese by accented with healthy organic vegetables, sugarless candy, etc. Good luck!

Kind regards,
James
