Question
I had another IEP meeting today for my child.  She has been dxed with Asperger's Disorder and Developmental coordination Disorder and PTSD and Adhd on top of Sensory integration disorder and epilepsy and motor delay.  Seems the list goes on.  Yet the school is fighting me on taken her off an IEP.  She is only 5 first year of school.  Not even a full day.  They are middle of the year wanting to change her transportation and everything around.  To me will be a melt down for my child.  Any idea's how I can fight this and gets what is best for my child?   Please help I feel like I am throw to the fish.  I did refuse to sign the IEP do to not agreeing with it.

Answer
Maria,

It sounds like your have your hands full. One option you have is to sign the IEP for "attendance only" and not agree with any of the changes they are offering. If there are some things you want to implement and others you do not, you can sign authorizing only those services you are willing to accept. When you do not accept services on an IEP, then the law says that the old IEP (the one last accepted by you) continues. The services called for on the last signed IEP are to continue, including transportation.

I wish you and your daughter the best,
