Question
I have an 11 year old grandson who is autistic with speech problems.  He has trouble vocalizing therefore will not speak or talk very much.  I have been trying for over a year to get his elementary school to incorporate computer based training into his curriculum w/no success. I have watched my grandson's progress as slow and not moving anywhere. I am told he knows math but when attempting to ask a math question he does not know what an answer is.  Are there computer based training programs for autistic children to learn how to comprehend math, etc. His reading is good plus we have an outside tutor but he tends to memorize his books or what he is learning.  Even his reports note that he does quite well on the computer and concentrates better but teachers are still reticent to incorporate computer based programs. I have looked into Teachtown.com but it seems to be geared more towards lower functioning autism and my grandson can pretty much get thru those programs.  Thanks for your help.
