Question I have a 10yr old son with autism. His behavior has gotten out of control. He would for no reason run throw himself on the floor for 5-10 minutes and scream he also does this at school. He also tries to head bot you. I do not want to put him on medication what can i do to help him?
Answer Hi Simone
I understand that medication is always the last resort, so here is what I would recommend:
1. Take him to a gastrointerologist and make sure he isn't having stomach issues-a lot of our kids have stomach issues which cause discomfort and bad behaviors
2. Try to implement a sensory diet with him to help him handle the stimuli around him
3. Talk with a behaviorist about helping him through this channel
If none of these things work, write me back and we will talk about medication.
