I am an autism expert and speech pathologist (for over 30 years). I am also the parent of a child with autism. I can answer any question on autism dealing with communication, education, behavior and diet. I cannot answer questions that are medical in nature or are dealing with medications.

I have run a therapy center for individuals with autism since 1981. I lecture all over the country. I also teach classes on autism on line.

Question
my grandson who is 5 is awaiting assessment for autistic spectre disorder however his behaviour is increasingly more unpredictable and aggressive with adults and children alike is there anything we can do in the meantime to help?
to me he certainly is displaying several of the features of autism and has done since he was very young please help

Answer
Oh yes. There are many things that you can do!! Just getting a diagnosis doesn't do anything to help him. What are the features that he is displaying and which of these things are you the most concerned about?
