Question
QUESTION: Hi Valerie!
My son is 2 year and 4 months old and doesn't talk. Only says ta-ta-ta or ba-ba-ba and staff like that, sound like baby. Also when you call his name doesn't respond, very rare and very often take my hand and bring me somewhere to help him.Plays with toys and focus his attention on toys for long time, and like to play with wheels. He is good with emotions. I am afraid of autism and why he still doesn't talk?

ANSWER: Hi Maja

It's time for you to investigate this further. It does sound like there is a developmental delay of some sort-not just because he is not talking, but also because he is taking your hand and bringing you somewhere and doesn't respond when you call him.

You can do several things:
1. Call your local school department and see what they have available for testing two year olds
2. Go see a neurologist or developmental pediatrician
3. If you just want someone to help you get him started on talking, I would be happy to evaluate him over the Internet (I have families I work with all over the globe.)

Just let me know where you want to go with this and keep in touch.

I Am in Schaumburg, IL but right now on vacation in Europe, visiting his grandma house.
