Question Hi I have a very close friend who has a son who serverly Autistic. He has been having serious Anger Issues in last few months. The other day he went through a glass door in anger, we think. He is ok thank heavens. He is a great boy but just started talking in the last year basic words and phases. He can't really tell people what is bothering him. He is in his own little world. Per say. Everyone loves him he is a great boy and happy it seems whenever I have seen him. Although sleeping is not something he does well and again his anger lately is getting more harmful for him. Like the door incident. My friends said his doctors just act like ok well.... no real help...This girl doesn't make really good money and doesn't get much help from the kids father. Is there any resources in NEW JERSEY I can recommend to her to get help. She makes to much for welfare and social security but she barely makes enough money for his doctor bills and related expenses so paying for high name specialist she can't afford. There hs to be something I can find out here to help her with understanding and proper care for this child. There has to be poeple who can really help her. She is a excellent mother and has been there for him and he is 12 now. Maybe better specialist for him with proper medicines for his desease could calm his outrages and save my dear friend from anymore headaches and heartbreak...I just want to try and help her find info on how we can give him a good life and also his mom they both deserve a break....p.s. we live in vineland nj
Answer Hey Christina,
Thank you for your important question. The question about local resources is a difficult one since I live in Minnesota. Most states has Autism societies. If there is one in New Jersey then contact them and see what their services are to parents. There is likely to be many services to parents. you might also go on-line and look up the Autism Society of Minnesota and then check to see what the reources are like in New Jersey.
Also just asking around to find out what clinicians have other parents used and enjoyed that offer Autism services, often people were able to find things right under their nose when they ask around.
