Question Does research support a specific amount of time a three year old autistic non-verbal child should receive for speech therapy?
Answer Hey Sheila,
Thank you for your interesting question. I have not come across a specific time table or schedule for speech therapy. I think anytime you start would be good. 3 years old should be sufficient. I would go to a pediatrician who is quite experienced with ASD's and receive a referral to a speech therapist. That referral would be best qualified to make a developmental determination.
I commend you on seeking services in a timely manner.
