Autism/Health insurance won't cover therapies

Question
I have an 4 year old autistic daughter and my health insurance (Aetna) denied service for speech therapy. We live in Houston, TX and I have been reading about the Bill 1919 signed by Gov. Rick Perry in 2007 stating that Health Insurers must cover speech therapy, OT, ABA among others for autistic kids. How should be my approach and how should I proceed with my health insurance provider?

Answer
I suggest that you contact the Texas state agency that investigates insurance complaints, then file a complaint with them concerning your daughter's denial of services. You should look up Bill 1919 so that you can refer to it in your complaint.

I file insurance complaints on behalf of my clients if you need help.

I wish you and your daughter the best,
