Question
Have there been any studies on poor or unhealthy living environments causes Autism?

Answer
Hey Holly,

Thank you for your important and thought provoking question.
Autism is clearly a disorder that is affected in some part by the environment. This is something that is beyond any doubt.

Beyond this-it is clear to nobody just how and what substances in the environment have a direct or even an indirect affect upon Autism. I think  pollutants or toxic substances exist in higher levels in poor communities. More research is needed and right now I do not see anybody targeting this specific population as the subject of research. Maybe it will be you.
