Question
Hi,
Thanks for your response.  I totally understand that its hard to get all this over an e-mail.  With that said, the district, his teachers, his SEIT, as of Wednesday at his CPSE meeting opened up introductions, updates and progress and THEN....what they truly believe my son has.  They all agree w/the the tests thus far saying my son is not autistic.

It was said like this, "Mom, we have been searching, watching, evaluating for the past 2 years and the more and more we learn and watch your son grow i want you to look at a disorder called "Non-verbal learning disorder or NLD."  They can't diagnosis but i am still in shock that all of the team present really felt this was something i needed to pursue and what my son has.   I am googling it now... any idea who can diagnosis this? Never heard of this???

Answer
-- Cetta,

The proper diagnosis of your son is too important to be left to people that are not really fully qualified to be making such a diagnosis. Your son needs to be diagnosed by a Neuro-Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, or Psychiatrist -- one that is experienced in diagnosing young children that are non-verbal. You should be ale to to find one in your area on-line. I represent students who have been diagnosed with NLD. While not common, it is encountered often enough for Diagnoses to be successfully made. You should ask the medical professional making the diagnosis to recommend educational placement, services, and accommodations to make sure what the school is offering your son is correct.

I wish you and your son the best,
