Question
My 43yr old son,(who lives with us) was diganosed in Elem. school,as being developmentally disabled/ Prior to this when he was about 5 yrs the diagnosis was ADHD. He was in Spec educ classes since Grade 3 and graduated from High School. "Back in the day" autism was not as known as it is today. After reading  about it, I am looking for some facility in the New Jersey area that will test adults. So far,in my internt searches, various phone calls I havent been able to find anyone or place, that does Adult testing. They all do pediatrical or youth testing.Somewhere in the New York, Pennsylvania,New Jersey area I feel that someone can help us. Thank you for taking the time to read my request

Answer
Hey Doris,

Thank you for your interesting question.

While it is very true that this is considered a developmental disorder in which children are widely considered the face and the limits of the disorder. However children grow older and Autism has no cure thus there are countless individuals out in the community that are on the Autism spectrum and are not diagnosed.

I would recommend you contact a GRASP organization in New Jersey or New York. They have groups in those states. That organization is dedicated to giving support to individuals living with Asperger's. They will also know local clinicians that are diagnosing adults.
