Question
I am a special educator with a lifeskills class in a High School. I have three males with severe case of autism. One of them puts things in toilet everytime he goes to the restroom. How can we stop him?

With severe autism, comes severe mental retardation. Replacing a pre-existing nonfunctional behavior with a new one will take some time. If you ask him to empty his pockets before he goes, will he place his clothing in the toilet? Please try and provide me with a little more background. Thank you.
