Autism/asperges

Question
My daughter goes to our local comprehensive and today coming out of a lesson her friend bumped into a boy who has asperges he thought that it was my daughter and violently attacked her throwing her to the ground and thumping and kicking her in the head, her friend tried to get him of her so he punched her in the face a few times then carried on kicking my daughter, until the teachers arrived and got him of her. I had to go to school to collect her and the head teacher tried to brush it under the carpet. My concerns are is he going to remember my daughter and if he sees her round school attack her again. He is supposed to have a carer at school in lessons but she was not with him and ive found out that he attacked another girl two weeks ago. Please could you advise me and do you think that i should report this to the police incase this happens again. Thankyou Angela

Answer
Hi Angela;

Did this girl and the boy physically "bump" into each other? Folks with Asperger's syndrome almost always assume the behavior of others is always intentional and respond accordingly. If he is targeting individuals, your daughter has a right to protection by school authorities. Most children with Asperger's syndrome are bullied, but some actually become a bully themselves. What are their ages and what country do you live in?

Yes, I would report the attacks to the police.

Kind regards,
James
