Autism/strange reaction to injury

Question
Hello.
My sister was just telling me about my nephew.  He seems to have developed normally and has no language problems.  As far as interacting with family he seems fine and hasn't gotten much interaction outside that since he is not quite two, so no preschool.  The odd behavior that has us a little concerned is that whenever he gets hurt, whether he scrapes his leg, bumps his head or the like, he gets sort of angry or something.  He won't let his mother comfort him.  She try to kiss it to make it better or tell him to rub it off or something.  Instead, he will refuse this and sort of hide and put his head down on the carpet until he feels better.  Another example when he was playing with his cousins outside and got hurt somehow, he ran to the corner of the yard by himself for a short period of time until he felt better and then went back to the kids.  Is this strange reaction to injury a possible sign of autism or asbergers?
Thanks,
Megan

Answer
Hi Megan;

This interesting, but it certainly doesn't ring of autism or Asperger's Syndrome. Sounds like a personality issue. Can you tell me more? Does he share with adults, family, and/or friends? If so, can you give me examples.

Kind Regards,
James
