Subject: orifice tube

Question
Where is the orifice tube located on a 2002 ford F150 pickup?

Answer
Stephen,
The orifice tube is located at the inlet of the evaporator. The evaporator is located inside the cab. On your specific truck, I am not certain whether the tube is located at the A/C line connecting through the firewall, or whether it is directly connected to the evap. But since you have to have the system recovered anyways, I would disconnect the high side line going into the firewall, first, just to make certain it is not there. If it is, it will save you alot of trouble digging your way through the dash to your evap. When you reconnect the line, check to make sure your o-ring on the line connector itself is present and in good condition, before you put it back together. If you should lose that o-ring, I have no doubts that it will leak after you put it back together.
This is usually a fairly easy replacement, the hardest part is getting to it if it is under the dash.
I hope I was of a little help, thank you for the question, if I can be of more assistance, please let me know.
