Question
QUESTION: I have a 2000 Chevrolet Z71 pick-up.  I was going down the road the other day and the air conditioner quit cooling.  I turned the A/C switch off and a few minutes later, it started cooling again with the A/C switch still off. I replaced the control head and the ambient air sensor and it is still doing the same thing.  Any ideas?
Thanks!

ANSWER: Hi Paul

Did you turn off the blower switch or the button that says ac.  On some models the switch was made with that problem.  I think it was a mistake by GM.  On later models it was corrected but you can not put a later model control on.  If you turn off blower make sure you hit that ac button and light comes off. Let me know

QUESTION: Thanks for your reply.  The blower switch was on and kept blowing, but it was hot air.  I turned the ac button off, then with the ac button off (light off on the switch) it would start back cooling, just like the ac button was on. I went to a GM dealer and ordered a control specifically for my truck, 2000 model Z71.  It is very confusing as the blower works, the air blows ice cold, but will just quit cooling as I am going down the road.  When I turn the blower off, the ac light goes off.
Thanks again for your help.
Paul

Answer
Hi Paul

Check your cycling switch for the turning off problem.  I'm not sure what your control problem is.  Check your control setting.  Set it to max cool and try to turn off comp.  Then take it off of max to normal and check again if you can turn comp. off.  Good luck let me know.  I'll try and research something on my end. I'll flag this one for later.
