Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair/Auto air blows out warm air

Question
I have a 2002 Ford Escort, the air- condition has been running ok for the past four years. Does the freon have to be recharge after a certain number of years? My gauge shows that it is full, as a matter of fact it shows over charge. Is this something I can do myself, or do I need to take it to a shop.

Thanks for your help
Jesse

Answer
Hi Jesse
refrigerant does not need to be replaced and it does not get consumed.  If the pressure shows a little high during the day remember it is very hot this year.  If the system is running good at night do not worry about it.  Remember pressures are related to ambient temperature.  The higher the temp. the higher the pressures.
