Question
I have a 1997 Ford Explorer Sport. The air conditioner only blows cold air if I set the system to MAX AIR and turn the fan to the highest setting. On any other setting it actually blows hotter air than the heater. I have taken the vehicle to two places who told me they fixed it and then didn't really so I am hesitant to take get ripped off by another "specialist" until I understand what the problem is. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Tim

WE need to try and see what the system is doing.  So first turn to high blower and max check if comp. turns on.  From what you say it should on and cold.  Then move blower to next step down and see if compressor is still on.  If on and not cold.  Then you need to clamp your heater hoses and let run to see if it gets any cooler.  If compressor turns off then you need to check you switch for a short in it.  If you want to try this out and let me know when it works and when it does not (Compressor).  Let me know and I will try to help.
