Question
I have a 2004 Tahoe and my front cotrol heating and air only blows on the high setting 5 (1-5). The high setting stopped working for several weeks and I had no air blowing at all. I rode over a bump the high setting is blowing cold and hot air again but it cuts on and off. I was told it was possibly the switch what do you think and if so how do we repair it step by step. I was also told that it could cost from $35.00 to $450.00 since money is hard to come by these days I would like to fix myself

Answer
HI Rachel

Your blower resistor is what controls your first 4 speeds.  You will need to replace that.  Your blower is probably going bad and that will also need replacing.  Do not change the control that is not the problem.  Your blower is located under the glove compartment and your resistor is underneath to the rear of the blower case.  If you need anything else let me know.
