Question
I have a 97 Z-71 the A/C clutch is screamig at me the whole time the truck is running. How tough is it to replace this clutch. I am not a beginer wrench but it has been a while. And what tools would it involve?

Answer
HI Mike

Before you buy anything make sure your compressor is not bad.  To replace the complete clutch it is better to remove compressor from vehicle.  The clutch plate need a puller to remove and to install. You can probably find them at your local auto parts house.  The pulley is not too hard to remove with with a pulley extractor, but some people just tap it out with a hammer.  You need to check the seat where the bearing sits make sure it is not worn out.  Your clutch coil is probably burnt.  Just make sure your compressor is good before you spend any money.  It is a lot easier to replace the compressor than to replace the clutch.  Let me know and I'll help you.
