Question
QUESTION: A/c compressor will cycle on and off. A/c will not work. Auto shop said problem was with the carb?? They want $300 to rebuild carb. Note: we just removed the A.I.R. pump...could this have caused the A/C to quit?

ANSWER: HI Dennis

What do you mean it is cycling but not cooling or just not turning on at all.

QUESTION: It will get cool but not cold. Freon is OK. Compressor will cycle on and off in short intervals. What is on the carb that can cause this? Shop said the carb was running "lean" and then said something about a "motor" on the carb???

Answer
IF your car is cycling (turning on and off) then you're probably low on refrigerant.  Try and get me both high and low pressures while system is running at Idle and let me know.  I do not think there is anything to control the compressor on that year corvette.  There is a actuator that brings your idle up if that is not working then your idle would drop severely and your compressor would turn off or turn your engine off.  I do not think that is what is happening correct.
