Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair/Ford F-250 AC compressor replacment

Question
I have a 1999 F-250 Super Duty 4x4 with the Triton V-10.  The AC compressor recently froze up so I had to by pass it. to allow the engine to run.  My question is two part:
1.  Do I need to replace the entire compressor or just the clutch?
2.  Assuming i need to replace the entire compressor, do I need to raise the engine to allow the removal of the compressor?  I attempted to remove it when it froze up but, one of the bolts backed out into the crossmember.  I did not have the time or tools with me to raise the engine at that time.  In planning for the eventual replacement, i just want to know what to plan for.

thanks,
jack

Answer
Hi Jack

Yes you will need to prop the engine up a little.  You will need to replace the compressor, accumulator and orifice.  Ford recommends that you replace the condenser also.  You need to
check the orifice and determine if you need a new condenser.
