Auto Airbag System Repair/follow up to last question-air bag module

Question
Doug,  I am following up on a question I asked about 2 weeks ago.  You gave me info on replacing an air bag module on my 99 Dodge Ram 2500.  I located one and followed your directions....everything went fine.  The air bag light went out on the dash, but now the seat belt light came on.  It was never on before.  I am wondering if there is a way to reset this?  Is the module tied to the seat belt sensor?  Any help would be appreciated again!  Thanks!

Jim

Answer
Hi Jim:
I'm glad you got your airbag system working.  The seat belts are not connected to the airbag system at all on this year vehicle.  I would check the connections at the seat belt buckles themselves as that is the only switch mechanism that triggers the light to go on and off..  Most of the time, it get's so dirty that the buckle switch fails.  As long as it snaps in place, it does not affect the operation of the seat belt itself.

Have a good night
Doug
