Question
I bought my mother in law a 2003 Saturn Wagon, cant remember the model.
The Wipers only work when pulling back the lever to spray cleaner, they will wipe the windshield at this time. They do nothing on normal mode (Low, Medium and High. Any ideas? I don't think its the motor, seems to be electrical. If its the wiring in the column what exactly should I look for or replace? I need to fix this today?

Answer
Hello Michael,

First you will need to remove the shroud covering the steering column.  Once this has been completed, you will need to check all wiring at the wiper switch for breaks, corrosion or other degradation.

If everything is intact, you will need to trace each wire from the switch to where it ends to ensure that it is not broken or damaged along the way.  If this does not work, check all fuses, i doubt your issue will be fuse related because if it were, the wipers would not work at all. Also you are correct in that it is probably not your motor, if it were the motor, the wipers would not work at all, as the motor is not seperate for various functions, it is one unit, controlling all functions.

Start with this and keep me advised on your progress.  I will assist in any way i can.

Thank you

Good Luck
