Question
Hi I have 1995 Honda Civic LX. The Driver side window strips have worn out due to which the glass does not close properly. I wanted to know how much will it cost me to repair it in Long Island NY.

Answer
Hi Saurabh,

I can't give you an exact answer, but I think I can get close.

The part you need is called a "run channel gasket."  Honda is the only source that will have it.  I am guessing it will sell for about $80.00

The labor to install it should be about 1 hour: maybe 1 1/2 hours.  Assuming an $80/hour labor rate that would be $80 to $120.

Before you go to the expense of replacing the run channel, try lubricating the run channel with silicone spray.  You can buy a can for $3 or $4 at Lowe's or Home Depot.  I think it is worth a try unless the old run channel is torn or badly stretched out of shape.

I am interested in answering questions regarding power window problems. Most typically those inquires will involve problems with window regulators, window motors, and window switches.

I have been repairing window problems full time for over seven years. I have repaired most all types of problems in the majority of domestic and import vehicles newer than 1988.
