Auto Glass/Power window problem

Question
I just bought a 2002 Dodge Stratus and the people before me had hit a guardrail on the drivers side. There is only a slight dent on the drivers door, but I think it caused some problems with the power window. When I roll it down it works fine but when I have to roll it up I have to push it towards the right to keep it in the right spot. Also when the window is all the way down and I shut the door it rattles around inside. Is this an easy fix or will I have to take it to a mechanic?

Answer
Hi Shalane,

It is really hard to say without looking at the mechanism (window regulator) and associated parts inside the door.  It could be something fairly simple or it could be something that you definitely would need an experienced mechanic to repair.

The door panel isn't too hard to remove if you have a few simple tools and a little bit of mechanical aptitude.  If you are up for the challenge, send me a follow up question and I will give you some pointers about door panel removal and suggestions on where to look for problems.
