Auto Glass/window problem

Question
2000 pontiac grand prix. The drivers side window went down but wuold not come back up. I replaced the motor, no help. I replaced the arm control switch and the window started up and stopped less than half way up. Sometimes it will go all the way up and some times will not move at all and same with downward motion. I greased the cable assembly, no luck. I do not believe it is a wire break as the harness looks brand new and had no problem until recently with little warning. Spent over $200 and no where. Any suggestions?

Answer

       I HATE Cable Run Systems and belive that they are the very Definition of planed obsolescence. GM being the biggest culprits.  I always recommend changing the regulator and motor as a unit.  A cable run window very rarely needs a motor, it is almost always a cable regulator problem. The Plastic cable guides crack or ice holds the window up (Just Once) and he cable gets too tight and eats itself and then jams. Save yourself a day or two of Hell and go buy the whole unit on  Ebay! Aftermarket and be done with the nightmare. Just  hold your receipt for warrantee.

Hope this Helps!! Derek :}
