Question
My two rear windows in truck leaks when it rains. Is there any type of adhesive that I can buy over the counter to put around the windows to seal them in more so they won't leak?

Answer
HI Bev,
         Sorry to hear about your leak. Yes there is a 3M urethane adhesive sold at most auto parts stores you could try but I don't think it will work for you and here is why :

         The two rear quarter windows in your truck are bolted in with 9mm nuts and to get glue underneath the outside rubber to reseal theses windows is almost impossible and just shooting glue over the outside rubber looks like crap! You could try to loosen these nuts and shoot some urethane glue behind the encapsulation of the quarter glass and tighten them up, but my experience tells me that this will only work 1/2 the time.  To do it right you must  remove the inside trim panels and pull all of the nuts off, remove glass and clean both pinchweld, (the metal) and the frame of the window itself and apply primer to both then replace butyl seal (A black bubble gum like substance) all around pinchweld,  and bolt back in, ( being carful not to overtighten which would cause the glass to brake).
        1/4 inch Butyl tape comes in a roll and can be purchased at almost any good auto parts store. A little effort is needed to push these windows out once nuts are removed. On the other hand if you pull all of the nuts out and you are unable to push the window out, (try a utility knife to start the process), then the glasses were probably replaced before and the installer who did the job used urethane adhesive instead of the butyl tape as required and that is why they leak in the first place.  In this case you will have to call in a professional. Hope this helps! Let me know how it worked out. Stay Safe! Derek :}
