Question
I have a 1999 GMC Chevy Suburban which has power windows. The driver's side window will go down but when I try to raise it up, it comes up at an angle and will not go up all the way or close completely. What would be the potential problem and can you email or post an image of the lifting mechanisms if that's the problem.

Answer
Hello Edgar,

Three problems come to mind that would explain what is happening.

1.  The front edge of the glass is no longer in the front "run channel."

2.  A "guide" at the end of the window regulator arm is broken.

3.  The window "regulator" arms are bent.

You didn't indicate your level of mechanical experience, so I won't go into any information regarding a repair except to say that #1 is fairly simple, #2 is a bit harder, and #3 is definitely too difficult for a non-expert.

There is no simnple way to paste an image into an "All Experts" response, but if you will go to: "http://www.dormanproducts.com" and type in 740-655 under "part number" you will be able to view a picture of the window regulator.

Let me know how else I can help.
