Auto Glass/driver side power window problem

Question
I HAVE A 1998 GMC YUKON. THE POWER WINDOW STOPED WORKING ON THE DRIVER SIDE SO I REPLACED THE MOTOR. HOWEVER, SINCE I REPLACED IT THE WINDOW WILL ONLY GO DOWN ABOUT 3/4 OF THE WAY AND THEN STOP. IF I WANT IT TO CONTINUE TO THE BOTTOM I HAVE TO PUSH DOWN ON THE TOP OF THE WINDOW WHILE HOLING THE SWITCH IN THE DOWN POSSITION. IT'S THE SAME GOING BACK UP. IT ONLY GOES UP HALF WAY. IF I LET IT REST FOR A MINUTE OR SO AND PRESS THE UP SWITCH AGAIN IT WILL GO UP ANOTHER INCH OR TWO AND THEN STOP AGAIN. TO GET THE WINDOW UP I HAVE TO PULL IT UP WHILE PUSHING THE UP SWITCH.

PLEASE HELP.

Answer
Hi Bob,

Sounds like the Cable in the regulator is playing with you!

It is not bound up enough in the gear to actually stop working totally but just enough to make you think it was the motor.

The whole unit motor and all is available online for 50.00 with shipping.

If you did just the motor already then this should be a fairly easy fix for you!

Congratulations Bob you just saved yourself 200+ by not going to the Dealer.

I am starting to think GM planed for these Cable run Regulators to go bad, and once you have the whole thing in your hand you will see what I mean.  The plastic that guides the cable is VERY thin!!! Very easy to break.

                     Hope This Helps! Derek =D
