Question
My rear passenger window does not stay up. I can pull the glass up and down with my hand but the window glass wont stay up. When I press the window switch, I hear a sound. I am wondering if the regulator/motor is broken or if the glass has just slided out of the regulator/motor assembly?

Answer
Hi Mehul,

The rear window mechanisms on this vintage of Camry are very reliable.  Occasionally I replace a window motor, but I almost never repair or replace the window regulator.  If the two plastic brackets used to mount the glass to the window regulator are broken or the two bolts that attach the glass to the regulator have come loose that could explain your description of the problem, but I have never seen that happen before.  I think the only way you will know what is causing the problem is to remove the door panel and make an inspection.
