Auto Glass/2002 Nissan pathfinder power window problem

Question
Recent problem with 2front windows opening spontaneously. I am aware of the key fob feature where the windows will open if you hold the button down on the key fob. Pushing button in error does not seem to be the problem. Happened repeatedly. There has been the odd occurrence of car alarm going off by itself as well, not a real problem.
Ideas on the window issue, a characteristic problem? Fix?
Vehicle otherwise reliable. Thanks

Answer
Hello Rob,

I have never seen a Pathfinder with a similar issue, so I don't have an immediate answer.

My first reaction is that the problem is in the master window switch, however, this vehicle may also have one or more "body control modules" that could be at fault.

If the car alarm is a factory item the two problems are probably not related unless the same body control module controls both the alarm and window circuits.

If the car alarm is an after-market system, the two problems might be related.  You could try disconnecting the alarm system for a few days to see if the window issue goes away.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.  You will definitely need someone with strong electronics experience to handle this one.
