Question
Hi,

I'm trying to replace the glass on a 2dr Pontiac Grand Prix and the glass doesn't want to go in the opening for the glass. The glass is the correct glass but it's giving me a tough time to go in. Can you give me some advice as to how I can get it in.  much thanks in advance.  tks

Answer
Hi Romeo,

I don't do much glass replacement.  Most of my work involves repairing or replacing the mechanisms that move the glass up and down.  So, my answer may not be the best one.  You might have better luck with another expert who is listed under auto glass.

Here's my suggestion.

Open the door and stand between the door and the driver seat.

Hold the glass with both hands and place the glass on the "outside" of the door.

Tilt the glass so the front corner is much lower than the rear corner.

Slide the front edge of the glass into the door.  Keep the glass at an angle and lower it until the back corner is also inside the door.

Now straighten the glass.

It may take a few tries to get the glass in just the right spot so that it will go into position when you straighten it.

Hope this helps.
