Question
Hi Ben, This is a follow up to yesterday's question; Is there a trick to disconnecting the lock rod without breaking the plastic piece? I removed the door panel easily and the electrical connector, but I am having difficulty removing the rod. Any suggestions? Then I should be able to remove the regulator fairly easily, correct? Are there any tricks or tips to remove and replace the regulator? Thanks again!

Answer
Hi Rob,

If you can't get the plastic retainer off the rod by hand an "ice pick" works well.

Here is a rough outline of the steps needed to replace the regulator.

1.  unbolt the glass from the regulator and raise/tape the glass all the way up

2.  unplug the motor on the regulator.

3.  remove the mounting bolts on the regulator

4.  pull the regulator out of the door.

5.  put the new regulator in the door and install the mounting bolts

6.  plug the wires into the new motor

7.  slide the glass down and re-attach the glass mounting bolts
