Question
I have a 2007 Pontiac G6 where all 4 power windows stopped working.  In doing some research I found a answer to a similar question on 9/22/2010 where you asked them to do an experiment.  I followed these steps attached below and the windows started working again.  My question is what does this mean and how to I correct the issue when it happens again?

1.  Start the engine with the vehicle in PARK and the emergency brake ON.
2.  Sit in the driver seat with the door open.
3.  With your right hand depress and hold the driver door window button in the "down" position.
4.  With your left hand pull the door shut firmly and see if the window starts to work again.

Answer
Hi James,

When all four windows stop working at once, the problem is usually an electrical issue such as no incoming power to the master window switch due to a broken wire.

The procedure you found in an answer to a different question is intended to determine whether a "sticky" window lift motor is the issue on a single door.  I don't know why the procedure solved your situation unless the wiring connection at the master switch was loose and the jar from the closed door was enough to re-make the connection.

Feel free to contact me again if the problem re-occurs.
