Auto Insurance Claims/Parking lot attendant hit another car while parking my car

Question
Should I file a claim with my insurance company? Will my insurance company then go after the parking garage insurance company? Can my insurance company raise my rates because of this claim?

Answer
Hi Anne,
Since the parking attendant was driving your car, the insurance carried by the parking service should pay for the damage to your car as well as the car the attendant hit.
You need to discuss this thoroughly with the manager of the parking garage and have him place a claim through his insurance.
If the owner/manager is totally uncooperative, you will need to file a claim with your own insurance company.  They may have to repair your car and subrogate against the parking garage.
This should have no effect on your rate.
