Question
Hi Mr. Bennie
I have BMW and have full coverage with 500 deductible under GEICO. recently I scratched side of my car when I tried to get out my garage, and I bought the car to my auto shop and they estimate about 3000 dollars. and the guy told me that I should report the claim to GEICO and GEICO will pay for it and all I have to pay is the deductible. The guy also told me that my insurance premium will not go up. I'm not sure if he is right so I want to confirm with you. Thanks

Answer
Hi William,
To the best of my knowledge, GEICO will increase your rate for at least 3 years for having a fault accident.  Theat certainly should not deter you from filing a claim because the increase definitely will not be $2,500.  You will need to ask your own agent for the approximate size increase that you can expect.
