Question
I was involved in an accident on november 16. it was a no fault accident. I notified my ins. comp. immediately. It is now Jan 1st. It took the adjuster 2 weeks to come and look at it and another 2 weeks for my ins. to get a hold of me. I called everyday left messages they never return calls. The body shop that is working on my vehicle had to stop and get a hold of the adjuster to comeback out because there is a lot of damage to framework. It has been a month and a half since my wreck I have no vehicle i have only been able to get in touch with my ins. 3 times. that last time i threatened to get an atty and they finally returned my call. I'm at my wits end with these people. it took 2 weeks the first time for the adjustor how long do they have to do THEIR job? I have made 2 more ins payments and 2 car payments and believe the damage is extensive enough to be totaled. I would appriciate any answers or explanations you coud give. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Answer
Hi Kim,
There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of delay.  You need to immediately file a complaint with the department of insurance.
Just type 'yourstatename department of insurance' into your web browser and hit go.  This will bring up many sites in your state dealing with insurance.  Just scroll through and find the one that says 'official site' of the department of insurance.  Scroll through that site and you will find telephone numbers and e-mail address for filing a complaint.
I suggest a telephone call for faster response.
Sincerely,
Bennie
