Auto Insurance Claims - diminished value

Expert: Richard Hixenbaugh - 10/7/2008

Question
Hi
I was involved in a car accident on sep 21st. my car was damaged and sent to car body shop for repair. I was at 0% fault. The insurance company agreed to pay my repair bill, but they told me I was not entitled for the diminished value because the value of my car can not be determined with certainty. Could you please tell me if this is true, if it is not, how could I claim it.
Thank you

yu guo

Answer
Hi Yu,

Yes you are entitled to be paid for diminished value if there is a diminished value. This will depend on the age and condition of your vehicle before the accident as well as the type and extent of the damage to the car.

For more information on diminished value visit www.collisionclaims.com .

I hope this helps
