Auto Insurance Claims/Hit and Run Coverage

Question
My truck was hit and run while parked on the street, the person was caught and did have insurance... however we did not have insurance on our vehicle at that time... will his insurance still cover the damage to my truck?

Answer
Hello Amber,

It depends. If the driver that caused the damage was a permissive user (the vehicle is not alleged stolen), then, you are very likely going to be covered. However, if the other insurance company has a exclusion against that specific driver or as I said, the driver stole the car and cause damages to you (the person responsible for the hit and run).
