Auto Insurance Claims/Insurance Claim Raising Rates

Question
Hey,
I backed into a rock accidentally, and damaged the rear bumper. Would submitting a claim to state farm raise my rates?

Thanks a lot,
John

Answer
Hello John,

Most likely not. However, it depends on different factors. How much damage (few hundred or few thousand), if there was damage to a third party (in case this rock is owned by someone), and your claim history (is this your first claim or the first claim this week?). You get my point.

Here is this article that deals with how and when you should make a claim without affecting your rates. Good Luck,
