Auto Insurance Claims/Car Collision

Question
I was driving my car under the speed limit going around 30 on my way to work. It is snowing here and the roads are very icy. There was a vehicle stopped in front of me in a no parking zone not moving. I noticed quit always away so I pumped my gas to start  stopping. My car started sliding so i knew i wouldn't stop in time. So i turned in attempt to hit a snow bank. However my left side hit the truck. I drive a small car so my whole left head light was smashes in. Also my hood was tented in. However no damage was done to the truck. I was wondering if my insurance is going to give me any coverage at all. This is my first claim ever, but I'm afraid i will not get coverage because my car was the one that hit and the road conditions were not fair.

Answer
Hi Chantelle,
To the police authorities and the insurance company, this is considered a fault accident.  You were driving to fast for conditions, unable to stop and hit a non-moving object (the parked vehicle).  If you carry collision, your own company will repair your vehicle, less the amount of your deductible.  If you don't carry collision, the cost of repair to your car will come from your pocket.  You have no right of recovery against the other car because they were parked.
The fact that they were not parked legally is not a relevant issue.
I hope this has been of help.
Sincerely.
