Question
My car was totaled after a driver attempted to pass me on a wet road and loss control.  CHP report states that he was totally at fault in violation of driving too fast for conditions.  I do have full coverage, but I do not have rental car coverage.  I have a second car, but if is not economical to drive.  A rental  a car cost $250 a week.  Should the other insurance company (Farmers)pay for the rental bill or do I?  I have attempted to talk to Farmers, but they have not returned my calls in over a week.  Can I also just charge them for the time I have been without my car while driving my second car?  Thank you

Answer
Don,

You have to "incur" the rental car expense in order to get reimbursed by Farmers. This is one reason they are ignoring you, to pressure you into using your other vehicle so you don't "incur" a bill. You can get detailed information on how to get around this as well as information on maximizing your auto total loss valuation in the eBook "Total Loss Auto for Claimants" at UClaim.com, currently on sale for around $12.00 and with a money back guarantee.
