Auto Insurance Claims/ins. claim

Question
my car was stolen from my driveway about a month ago. From the very first conversation I had with the claims adjuster she basically hinted to the fact that this was a fraudulent claim.  They asked questions, recorded my statements and had me sign affidavits. they evev asked me to send my keys. When I sent them they accused me of sending copies not originals. They keys I sent were the keys I got w/ car. They are acting like they are not going to pay the claim.  Can they refuse to pay?

Answer
They can refuse anyone on any basis, but risk getting sued for bad faith in so doing. Make all of your communications with the insurance company in writing and send them by certified mail. I would send them a final demand for settlement of the theft claim and give them 10 days to respond. If they don't pay it, contact an attorney with a specialty in insurance bad faith and policyholders issues.
