Question
Anne,
I am a starter on purchasing auto insurance.
Is it true that if you live in a city with high valdalism rate that your auto insurance will cost more monthly?  I am going to be purchasing a Ford Windstar soon and am in the moving process.  I haven't moved yet, but I am thinking that the city I might be moving to has a very high crime, but if it will mean a great difference in monthly premiums, I could purchase it somewhere else I suppose.  I just don't know how the whole thing works, but I have heard that if I am buying i should think of these location things?
any direction would be great.
thanks!!!

Answer
Hello Leah,

Yes, this will affect your premium. The questions really is how much? Would it be something to "worry about" or is it simply $1 or $2 per year? Different insurance companies do different things, so we do not know for sure.

Your best cause of action is to get an insurance quote now. You can use a good broker online like this one: http://www.auto-accident-blog.com/go/auto-insurance-quotes.php to get several quotes. Most quotes are good for at least 6 months. Do this now (or before you move).

Then when you move, get a new quote and see the difference. Go with the one that is cheapest!

I hope this helps!

Good Luck
Anne
